Lover's Knot
Let's try this again! I am sorry that this is not quite as good of a picture as I wanted to have to showcase my quilt. When I started this quilt it was because I wanted to show what could be made with my friend Katherina's fabric. She is the owner of Sew-n-Sew's Place in Roosevelt Utah. I know that it is called Lover's Knot but to me it represents friendship. Katherina has been a very good friend to me and has taught me many things and has given me opportunities to grow in my general sewing and in my quilting. Today another dear friend of mine died. This friendwas my 6 year old Green cheecked Conure named Zookie. Zookie was a very loved member of our family and he will be greatly missed. My quilt is dedicated to my two good friends Katherina and Zookie.

Shop Hopping
Yesterday Katherina and I went to Salt Lake and visited tons of fun Quilt shops that we have been hearing about. Boy did we get lots of fun ideas!!
We hit Pipers, Whimsey cottage(where we actually helped a customer!), and quite a few others before getting to the best one of all!! The Material Girls!!! What a cool store and how do they get their fabrics before anyone else does? We had such a good time and I couldn't leave without buying some of Amy Butlers newest line(which isn't supposed to be out until December!) I can't wait to start sewing with it! At first I was going to make a quilt out of this beautiful fabric but now I think I what to make a bag with part of it!! I bought a new bag pattern too!! I almost forgot to tell you the name of the new line! Of course those of you who have been waiting for this know already but here it is anyway "Love" and I just love this line!!!
Don't forget the Blogger's Quilt Festival tomorrow. I sure hope my quilt is ready in time. Yikes!!!
Got to get that one bound!! Watch tomorrow and see if I make it in time!

Creating through Loss
For those few of you who are waiting to see my Lover's Knot quilt finished it is being quilted!! Yea!!
Last week I had the opportunity to visit with some extended family when I went to stay with my aunt while my Mom was down for her cousins funeral. It is always a sad thing to go to a funeral and at the same time happy. You mourn the loss of a loved one and reaquaint yourselves with family you haven't seen for a while. I loved seeing my Mom, Aunts and Uncles and of course my cousins and my nephew who came so that my Mom who doesn't like to travel alone could come. Sunday night we had a family dinner at my Aunt Midge's house. Uncle Bob barbequed hamburgers (beef and elk) and hotdogs. My Uncle Clair, my Mom and my nephew Nathan, and my cousin Dayna and her family were there. We had a great time talking and eating and just enjoying each others company. I being (what I like to call myself) a seamstress, couldn't help but notice the cute skirt that Dayna's daughter Jessica was wearing. Dayna told me they had bought it at a garage sale for $2! It was a cute little skirt that was made from jeans on the top and had a gauzy fabric on the bottom. Very cute so I decide that I need to make my own version of this cute skirt and here you have it! I took an old pair of Kimmy's jeans and my new quilting fabric and made her a new skirt! Not a very good picture but you can get the just of it. Jean top and classic pillow case dress for the bottom. What a good way to use those scraps of fabric laying around! I can't wait to play around and do the next one! Let's see...maybe we will go the other direction with the strips! A little more rufflly!!!

A day in the life of a seamstress
A day in the life of a seamstress. How do you do just one day? This last week I finshed two dresses and two shirts and went to two Rodeo Queen Contests to watch the girls that were wearing my dresses. Two of them won and the other one did not. I also made a pair of chaps. put sequins on some vests, taught 4-H, practiced with the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Riders, spent time with my husband and kids. Wow! Life never slows down! It is now July 1st and I started this post on June 5th! Let me share with you my Monday! I woke up around 5 and started working I finished putting sequins on the 24 saddle pad covers that I had made for the Dinosaur roundup Rodeo Riders(I had already finished the 26 vests!) Took Kimmy to quilting class(no I don't teach her myself!) Then I finished a zipper in a skirt, made a shirt for the 4th of July with fringe and sequins, altered two more shirts which ment putting a zipper in one shirt so it wouldn't pop open while the young lady was riding her horse and taking in the sides of the other one. All this was done before 5 p.m. when I left to go practice with the riders again! When I have more time to post I'll give a more detailed accounting of what I do all day!

I probably won't say anything profound or world changing on this blog, but I hope to be able to share with you what I do and why. This will be it for my first post. Hopefully the next one will be better!
